#IOL2018 Contestant: Ms Samsara

April 5, 2018

Competetitors for the 23rd Annual International Olympus Leather Contest have submitted their applications and are preparing to to compete in San Diego during Olympus Leather Weekend at the Events new venue the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley.

Samsara is the sole competitor for the International Ms Olympus Leather title this year.  She lives in Texas and is sponsored by Great Plains Olympus Leather.

Here is Samsara's Official Bio:

"Samsara started in the leather community at the age of 19, identifying initially as a heterosexual slave-type who was maybe just curious about a little spanking. Fast forward a few classes and a great deal of encouragement from her mentor types and educators willing to share their knowledge, she now finds herself a leathergirl switch, exploring what it means to be queer both in a historical context and in the world today. It is an honor for her to be allowed to explore the role of Daddy, a pleasure to play as a pup, and sometimes thrilling and sometimes edgy when she allows herself to wander back into the wilds of bottoming – especially when it ends in toe-curling sex. Samsara has a deep passion for activism, and frequently finds herself engaging in discussions with those who have either in the past or current feel themselves as outcasts, and works to build a world and community in which these groups feel welcome to share their experiences and grow from their wealth of knowledge. During her title year, Samsara has spent a great deal of time both buried in books regarding our history and exploring the vast variances of leather experiences in heartfelt conversation. Through coming out (as a queer woman, as a leather person, and as someone with wide open polyamorous leanings), she has found that open and honest conversation combined with integrity lead to the best opportunities for growth. Samsara believes in continuous growth, and it is among her greatest honors to learn and represent as a leather person."

He brought that knowledge back with him when he moved back to Columbus to stay and has been using it and building on it ever since. An active member of OLA, NLA-Columbus, Titans of the Midwest, Cap City Pups, and a co-founder of Ohio Pups and Handlers, he is glad to offer his skills, knowledge, and assistance back to the community. #IOL2018 Mr Contestant: Bill

April 5, 2018

Competetitors for the 23rd Annual International Olympus Leather Contest have submitted their applications and are preparing to to compete in San Diego during Olympus Leather Weekend at the Events new venue the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley.

Bill Willis is one of three male competitors vying for for the International Mr Olympus Leather title this year.  He lives in San Diego, CA and is sponsored by West Coast Olympus Leather and Beat Your Drum Productions.

Here is Bill's Official Bio:

"My journey started as a young boy in the country. Many times I would sneak off with two clothes pins and see how long I could keep them attached to my nipples. Fast forward to 2001 when I arrived in Dallas Texas and went to my first leather bar. I couldn't believe how turned on I was. I tried to engage in a few conversations, but each time was shot down, or "looked through." I kept coming back and each time it was the same. Eventually, I was told that I didn't have "the leather look." I was informed that I did not have the right body for leather, that maybe I should try another bar... For several years, I continued to hear I did not fit the "Leather" image. For several years, I kept coming back.

Eventually I met a few people who helped me realize that Leather is not just an image. This group of people quickly became a family and a source of support. One person in particular helped me to finally understand that Leather is about what is in my heart, and what people witness through my actions. I have since been on a journey of acceptance and learning.

Moving to San Diego provided me with the opportunity to run for my first leather title, Mr. San Diego Eagle 2017. During my title year I worked hard to make sure everyone in the leather community felt welcomed and included. I focused on celebrating differences and working to bring people together to raise money for local charities. I also ran for and won the title of Mr. West Coast Olympus Leather 2017. As a Leather Titleholder, I strive to be a positive example of our Leather Community. I truly believe that our differences strengthen our unity."

#IOL2018 Mr Contestant: Ben Workman

April 5, 2018

Competetitors for the 23rd Annual International Olympus Leather Contest have submitted their applications and are preparing to to compete in San Diego during Olympus Leather Weekend at the Events new venue the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley.

Ben Workman is one of three male competitors vying for for the International Mr Olympus Leather title this year.  He lives in Texas and is sponsored by Stray Toys and Woofstock Texas.

Here is Ben's Official Bio:

"Ben is a 26 year old leather pup and service slave who has been active in the DFW community for the past five years, which he considers to be the best five years of his life to date.  While he grew up around Baltimore, MD, Ben made Dallas his home about six years ago.  Even though the relationship he moved across the country for is long over, his love for the city has only grown over the years.

After entering the rope scene in 2013, Ben fell head over heels in love with kink.  His love of puppy play led him to create the DFW Kennel Club group in 2015, hoping to create a community that was more accepting and accessible, and with better discernment and consent practices.  He is now grateful to see a flourishing pup community full of race and gender diverse people blossoming between the monthly bar moshes, quarterly hotel moshes, and annual Woofstock Texas pup & handler retreat in Cameron, TX.

His life was transformed when he experienced the Leather community for the first time.  Now, Ben enjoys his responsibilities as Mr. GPOL 2017, sharing his experiences as a trans man and helping to educate people about their privilege by pointing out his own.  He can be found bootblacking at various events around Dallas, teaching wherever he isn't asked to volunteer as security, or chilling at the Eagle.

For the past 2.5 years, Ben has been under the consideration of his owner, Katrine.  Although both of them are polyamorous and pansexual, their relationship is entirely based on service; devoid of sexual or romantic energy.  This might sound odd to some, but for them, it's perfection - the little family born of their mingled partners is precious to him, and he couldn't be happier under Katrine's hand."

#IOL2018 Judge Preston "Wexx" So

prestonPreston “wexx” So is Mr. International Rubber 20 (2017) and Mr. New England Rubber 2016. The first international fetish titleholder of Asian heritage, he is honored to bring the MIR title back to New England and the New England Rubber Men. Preston has been interested in rubber since 2007 but bought his first gear in 2010 after long cultivating his interests in sports gear and spandex.

Preston was resident materials expert at Harvard College Munch, the BDSM student organization at his alma mater. In this capacity, he helped other students explore not only safe, sane, consensual kink but also leather, rubber, spandex, and similar fetishes, at a time when the group was publicly vilified by Bill O’Reilly on Fox News as a university-funded “sex club.”

Having judged fetish contests in New England, New York City, and beyond, Preston believes that being a rubberist is inextricable from one’s person. He is proud to practice his passion by wearing latex out regularly and mentoring new rubberists regardless of their gender or sexuality, including through his “Latex Fetishism 101” workshop about latex care and latex fetish practices.

As Mr. International Rubber 20 and a rubberist of color, Preston’s mission is to rubberize the world — to bring the latex fetish to places further afield and especially to unawakened rubberists.

#IOL2018 Judge Renee

reneeRenee's interest and exploration of BDSM and Leather was sparked in the mid 1990's. She came into the lifestyle as a submissive, but soon realized that to her core she is a slave and Service is her path. A combination of community involvement and personal study helped to establish a strong foundation for her slavehood, solidifying her belief system.

The Drive of Service and her desire to better connect her two communities led Renee to run for Ms. Alaska Leather in 2016. With the title came change and opportunity! A move to Anchorage and travel to events in the lower 48 re-ignited the desire to understand, learn, and share her love and value of Leather with her Alaskan community. This also began her work to document and preserve Alaskan Leather History, with special focus on Alaska's Leather Women. This journey ultimately led her to step up as the 2017 Women's International Leather Legacy.

Currently, Renee's joy is found in recording the “Herstory” of the Women's Leather community as WILL. She also works on teaching communities how to document and preserve their own leather histories, through L.E.A.P., the Leather Evidence Archive Project.

Renee is involved with several organizations. She is a member of The Last Frontier Men's Club, HardPink Sisterhood and ACAL, The Alaska Center for Alternative Lifestyles. For Northern Exposure, Renee is part of the production team as registration lead. She also works with Alaskan Aids Assistance Association on the volunteer committee to produce the annual Fetish Ball fundraiser, and is an avid supporter of The Imperial Court of All Alaska. (withdrawn from '18 panel-open invitation to judge at another time)

Upon her return to California in the summer of 2014, she found the Leather community, and in it, she found a home. She has dedicated herself to service in any way possible, while growing and evolving in turn.

Pixie Mary has a passion in giving back while supporting community that has given her so much by its existence as well as supporting near and dear causes close to home. Her service looks a little different with every endeavor, some have been strictly monetary, others take moments of my time and yet others have meant so much more.
